Wednesday, September 05, 2007 back to reality. my summer is over... i can't believe how quickly it went by... now its back to school... greece was amazing... i definitely hafta go again someday... we didn't get to see olympia cuz of the forest fires... so i have an excuse to go back =) it was so sad hearing about the fires... our guide sounded like she was gonna cry when she talked about them... on our second day in athens we were wandering around and we could smell smoke and see ash falling like snow and we heard helicopters every few minutes carrying buckets of water... it was kinda scary cuz we were afraid that they would evacuate us or something! but the only thing that happened was that our itinerary changed a bit which was kinda disappointing but at least we got to see other kool sites! we went to this town called nafplion and it is soooo pretty there... i liked it a lot but i think i spent more time chasing down cats to take pictures of them instead of the pretty streets =) they have these narrow streets with pretty buildings on both sides... and a big town square and all these little cafes in front of the stores.. so pretty.... i saw a jellyfish there! and i saw cats everywhere! there are a lot of strays.. but they get taken care of.. people leave water and scraps of food out for the cats to eat =) there were some dogs too and sometimes that was a little scary cuz all of a sudden you turn around and theres a big dog following you! i got to see a lot of the stuff i learned in my classes haha.. yeah i know i'm a geek but it was really kool! and our guide was so enthusiastic when she told us about all the stuff.. she was nice =) the people in our tour were pretty nice too... we got to hang out with these australian couples and they were really funny haha we got to go out for drinks with them on the last nite which was nice =) we all went out to dinner and they were sitting on the other end of the table... i think i looked really bored cuz they would glance over at us occasionally and so after dinner they asked if we wanted to go out for drinks with them which was fun =) they said if we ever went to visit australia to call them up =) and they used such cute phrases! hahaha i dunno i just never hear people say things like "good on you!" or "you did a sterling job!" haha i thought it was cute =) we saw a lot of pretty places.. greece is so nice! i hafta go back one day... we got stuck in amsterdam on the way home.. we had a connecting flight there but by the time our plane landed we had already missed it.. so we had to spend a nite in amsterdam which was not happy about... there was nothing to see near the hotel anywayz and we had to wake up so early... and then we had to go thru detroit before we came home which was a WHOLE other issue... let's just say i don't ever wanna fly thru the states ever again... too tired to write about the trip now =) pictures on facebook! haha took me so long to organize and sort ad rename all my pictures.. i took so many... over 200! =) 0_o ( 12:31 AM ) ~ punchyfruit ~ |
